Bringing a child into the world is a joyous occasion for many parents. It’s also a significant time that cannot be compared to anything else.
Over the weekend, a few people at the Brookfield Zoo Chicago in Illinois were able to witness one such moment and create a memory they’ll never forget. As shown in the video, this mama dolphin had her baby, and the audience was stunned. So many of them offered up “Aww’s” and cheered at the sight of this newborn coming into the world. It’s known that dolphins are very intelligent, and commenters had a few things to say about the baby’s natural instincts. Right after this little one was born, the calf already knew to head for the surface.

One thing is clear: This baby dolphin has a caring mama and community. Mama Allie was there every step of the way post birth to guide her baby and make sure they were alright. She wasn’t alone, either. Commenter @thedawnofhannah even asked, “Is the other dolphin a midwife or something?” According to the Brookfield Zoo Chicago Facebook page, the mama dolphin named Tapeko was nearby to lend support if needed.
