They are wrapped with attention and loving every second of their free jazz concert!
One highland cow even enjoys listening to jazz so much that they start shaking what their mama gave them, moving and grooving to the free-flowing music as they dance along the fence!
Do Cows Like Music?
Now, how do we know that this video wasn’t just a one-off? Maybe the highland cows in this particular video really do enjoy listening to jazz music, but what about cows in general?
Apparently, cows actually do enjoy listening to classical music. They can find these tunes to be quite relaxing. However, music that is very upbeat, meaning a song with over 100 beats per minute, actually stresses them out.
A study by the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom found that our bovine friends prefer slow music. In particular, the cows in that study really enjoyed Beethoven’s “Pastoral Symphony” and “Bridge over Troubled Water” by Simon and Garfunkel.
The study also found that overall milk production among the cows was lower when they listened to faster, more up-tempo music than when they listened to slower songs or classical music.
