Dogs seem to universally dread having to take a bath as much as they enjoy eating tasty snacks. While there are all kinds of reasons for this, what is consistent from dog to dog, regardless of age, size, or breed, is how funny their reactions can be to bath time.
And as this video shows, Leo the Labrador is no exception. You might see the look of utter defeat on his face as his human hoses him down in the bathtub and wonder if someone told this poor guy that he has just been sent to the firing squad.
Poor Leo! We are not sure how this guy can handle the humanity of this situation. Hopefully, he will make a full recovery.
But who knows, bath time is a seriously traumatic ordeal to endure for many of our canine companions, like living or fighting through a war zone. Hopefully, Leo will recover.
But don’t mistake Leo’s defeated demeanor in the bathtub for him not liking water. On the contrary, as the start of this clip shows, Leo loves playing in the water!

Just looking at what a happy boy he is when he gets to hang out in his own little pool next to his cow friends.
Yes, in that clip, Leo the Labrador is just as happy as a clam! The problem for Leo, as this video notes, is when his human forces him to take a bath.
As you see from the second part of this clip, Leo is in shambles, sitting in the bathtub, getting hosed down, wondering what he did to deserve such a cruel fate. They say that every dog has his day, and this is clearly not Leo’s day!
Why Don’t Dogs Like Taking Baths?
Even water-loving breeds that seem perfectly content to swim and splash around all day are typically none too fond of bath time. But why?
There are a few reasons for this. It could be that a dog had a previous bad experience during bath time, which makes them feel that baths are not safe.
Maybe they got shampoo in their eyes, water went up their nose, or they slipped and fell in the tub? All of these can be traumatizing experiences for dogs.
Also, keep in mind that since dogs are usually forced to take a bath, the experience makes them feel a loss of control that stresses them out.
And over the course of cleaning and scrubbing them, it’s possible that their humans move or touch their bodies in ways that dogs do not enjoy.
