One of the amazing things about dogs is how they can all become puppies again when they are given the chance. Just take Eliza, the foster Beagle, for instance.
She had an incredibly rough start in life. But now she is in a loving foster home where she can finally enjoy all the playfulness that she unfortunately was unable to experience when she was younger.
And in one of her most adorable embraces of her inner puppyhood is the “playful pounce.” Not only is this totally adorable to watch, but it also allows her to joyously play with her bigger canine beastie.
Eliza might be a fully grown dog of at least three years old, but her energy is here puppy playtime as she playfully pounces all over her best friend, Roo.
According to a comment from Instagram user acrewofrescues, who posted this precious video, Eliza has finally found “the best way to be able to keep up with her bigger best friend…” She certainly has, LOL! And what a blast she is having doing it!

They also noted that many people mistakenly think that Eliza is still a puppy, but the truth is, she has all this boisterous energy now because when she was young, she was never able to play like this.
It’s absolutely heartwarming to see this beautiful dog finally living her best puppy years!
This other video goes into Eliza’s story in more depth. According to Instagram user acrewofrescues, this poor girl was rescued from a “horrific hoarding situation,” where she and more than 30 other dogs were stuck living in an “unconditioned car.”
Unsurprisingly, these dogs all had various medical issues from this horrific abuse, including poor Eliza. However, she is now with a loving foster family who is actively working on treating these.
While they have fostered many dogs, they note that they have never fostered one quite like Eliza. Because she spent her early life trapped in a car with a bunch of other dogs, she will exhibit many strange behaviors that they have never seen in another dog.
Eliza is also just so happy to be in a loving home where she feels comfortable, that she wants to play and explore like she never could before.
As wonderful and adorable as that is, it does mean that she has to do some getting used to in order to settle down into the behaviors and rhythms of domestic life.
And hey, we are all for it! Watching Eliza explore and play, rolling around on the furniture, and just enjoying all the freedom of the open space in her new home is nothing less than life-affirming, and we couldn’t be happier witnessing her incredible journey!
