Bengal Cat Named George Responds to Commands Just Like a Dog

Meet George, a Bengal cat that may be more canine than actually feline. George is a smarty pants and his mom says that he can do all of the classic tricks that dogs learn to do, and she’s not wrong!

Watch Good News Dog’s video, which they posted to TikTok, to see George sit, spin in a circle, and high-five his mom, all for treats. It’s fun to see, but what makes the video even more interesting is George’s unique meow. Make sure your sound is on so you don’t miss it!

Way to go, George! I didn’t know that cats could learn to do these classis canine commands, but this Bengal cat proved me wrong! Good News Dog also said in the video’s caption, “George has the best meow,” and everybody agreed. @emersalden got nearly 50 thousand likes when she pointed out, “But why does he sound like a toddler practicing his animal sounds?! LOL!”

Others heard something different. @blasterwayne shared, “I love his voice, like a kitty Kurt Cobain… so cool!” @ribhmaclean said, “He sounds like the girl from Divergent. I love him!”

I laughed when @iammartelo wondered, “Did George just hit puberty or something?” Another commenter said, “Cat needs some WD-40…” Everybody agreed with @ssquilibrato when they added, “Best meow I’ve heard so far 10/10.”

The Cat’s Meow

Did you know that just like a dog’s bark, a cat’s meows can have different meanings. Catster explains that cats have about eight different meows that you might hear from your feline friend, though I didn’t hear any that sound like George’s! The meows include the now meow, low, mid, and high-pitched meows, short and long meows, multiple meows, and a chirp.

Although I don’t have a pet cat (my husband and daughter are both allergic), I was familiar with most of the meow sounds, except I wasn’t sure about two: the chirp and the now meow.

Catster describes the chirp: “This sound can also mean there’s something your favorite feline wants that they can’t get to, such as a bird outside the window. In this situation, the chirp indicates a mix of frustration and excitement.”

The now meow is similar to the chirp, “When you hear this meow, you’ll know it because it may sound like your kitty is saying “Now” rather than “mrow”. And this meow likely means exactly what it sounds like—kitty wants something now! This meow will often show up when your pet is hungry, and it won’t stop until your cat has been fed. It may show up at other times, though, when your cat sees something it wants, like a toy or a squirrel outside.”

I feel like in this video, George was probably using his now meow. It was clear that the only reason he as performing is because he wanted those treats!
