The stars of the cult classic Best In Show gathered in New York City to celebrate the movie’s 25th anniversary. During the 2025 Tribeca Festival, famous faces like Michael McKean, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Guest, and Jane Lynch took the stage to talk about the ongoing love for the dog-centric flick, and to share some of their favorite memories from filming.
But, the conversation eventually turned to the actors and their most beloved pets, which allowed for them to share some pretty special stories about their four-legged friends.
According to People magazine, Lynch strays away from bougie pooches that her character was known for training in the film, and instead surrounds herself with senior dogs IRL. Sadly, she recently lost one of her beloved pets, but she still has two elderly Cocker Spaniels at home.
“Everything they do is funny. Charles is about 12-years-old, and his ears float… I don’t know what’s wrong with him,” Lynch shared. “He’s clumsy. So even sitting down, he’s like this and his ears are floating and he goes to jump on you and he falls… Charles is the funniest dog out there.”

For his part, Higgins says that his heart belongs to his Pitbull Jimmy, who passed away a few years ago. “Jimmy was a very interesting dog… People were very attracted to Jim, and they called him the ‘doggy llama’ because he was so chill,” Higgins recalled. “He was this sort of like perfect dog.”
As for Hitchcock, the 66-year-old said he is nothing like his Weimaraner-obsessed character in the film, but instead he leans more towards rescues.
As for his funny story, well, it had a lot to do with a little white lie he told as a kid. “We spent a very long time lying to my little brother that our dog got adopted when it actually got run over… It’s not funny, but it’s true,” he laughed while telling the story. “Then we had one dog that—the sweetest dog ever—but it started eating all of our doors in our house.”
While the gang may be nothing like their on-screen characters, it’s clear that the legacy of their movie, and their love of animals, lives on.
