If you have pets at home, you might sometimes find them staring at you. Most of the time, when they stare, it’s with love in their eyes. But occasionally, you might get the side eye if they’re mad at you or when you don’t give them what they want. And rarely, you might even get a death stare like this duck is showing in this video that Puffin the Border Collie shared recently.
The duck, adorably named Tractor, is lounging by the duck pool with his friends when he notices his human watching him. The stare down he gives is epic, and the accompanying song will crack you up!
@puffinthebordercollie Anyways, good luck sleeping tonight knowing that Tractor the duck is among us #tractor #petduck #scary #duck #farmanimal #farm #scarypet #stare #uncomfortable #hobbyfarm #funnyanimal #newhampshire #fyp #loveanimals #yikes #pekingduck
Tractor means business with that stare down! And I laughed when I read Puffin’s video caption, “Anyways, good luck sleeping tonight knowing Tractor the duck is among us.” We’ll all be sleeping with one eye open!
Commenters got a kick out of Tractor’s bombastic side eye, too. @GoRilla shared, “I feel as if I’m being threatened… LOL!” @Archangel agreed, “He seems to be looking for trouble…”
@chadtx13 said, “That look says, ‘You don’t want to find out, now do you?’ LOL!” @Celeste added, “They are always watching and plotting!”

Why Do Ducks Stare?
Many commenters mentioned that their ducks have a similar look, especially when they’re not sure about something or sense a threat. New Life on a Homestead explained, “When a mature duck tilts its head and intently stares at you, an object, or a sound it is not necessarily angry, just inquisitive or on high alert. A duck’s eye can remain in a fixed position so he or she can rapidly scan along in any direction to look for threats or food.”
Another site explained it a different way, “Ducks can give a mean side eye, but why are they staring you down?? Duck eyes are actually fixed in the socket, meaning to see in different directions they have to actually tilt and move their head around. So they aren’t giving you a side eye, they just want to get a better look.”
Whatever the reason, the look definitely makes people uncomfortable. Tractor is not messing around when he gives us that look!
