It is important for our feline companions to get plenty of enrichment. As many cat parents will likely tell you, that means having plenty of cat-friendly objects for their feline fur babies to climb on.
But it is also important for said climbing structures to be safe for our beloved cats to interact with. And that’s what makes the “cat hammock” in this video such a genius DIY hack.
As this video shows, that is a pretty big staircase. So, it is a good thing that these cats have this massive hammock hanging over it to keep them safe.
Not only does this let them safely navigate the area around the staircase, but it also lets them onto the side windowsill ledge, an area that is irresistible to many cats, with a literal safety net beneath them.

And just look at how much these precious little felines enjoy it too! In particular, the adorable little black cat with a fluffy white spot on their chest really seems to dig this hammock.
This precious little baby is just curled up in a ball, snug as a bug, taking the cutest little catnap right in the middle of the hammock. We think this is definitely a win-win situation.
It’s a win for the cats because they have a safe way to entertain themselves around the staircase. And it’s a win for the humans in this house because they now get to witness all this adorable feline behavior around their staircase.
Why Do Cats Like To Climb?
Pretty much any cat parent will tell you that their kitties will climb on just about anything they can. But for some reason, our feline companions seem to like climbing to high places in particular.
There are a few reasons for this. Our cats might crave climbing to high heights because it makes them feel safe from other animals. They may also do this to seek out a better vantage point or to increase their territory.
And sometimes, they just like to climb tall things because it is fun! While there are many reasons why they like to climb, it is important that what they are climbing on is safe, which is what makes the hammock hack in this video such a great idea.
