It’s a sad day for Max Greenfield and his family, after they announced that they had to say their final farewells to their beloved pooch. Greenfield’s wife Tess Sanchez shared the news on June 22, posting about the death of the family’s dog Darlene Instagram.
Many of Greenfield’s fans had been very familiar with the pup, since she had spent 400 days in a shelter waiting to find her forever home before the New Girl alum and his family happily welcomed her into their place and their hearts.
A mournful Sanchez shared the news with fans, posting a series of pictures of the adorable pup as she spent time with her loving family. “Our sweet baby girl Darlene has passed on to heaven,” she captioned the photo carousel. “Cancer with her advanced age was too big a battle for her to fight. She sprinkled so much love and magic into our lives.”

In some of the pictures, Darlene snuggled with Greenfield, and in others she was seen happily playing with the couple’s two children, 15-year-old Lilly and 9-year-old Ozzie. “I take comfort in knowing we gave her the best last chapter and that she experienced being truly loved and cared for by our whole family,” the post continued. “We miss you so much,”
The family received a generous outpouring of support after the post was shared, including a comment from Wags and Walks, where Darlene spent 400 days waiting to be adopted.
“Sending you all so much love! Thank you for giving her the dream life,” the rescue commented. Fans also came to the post to share their support and to offer their condolences to the family.
It’s never easy losing a beloved pet, and we hope that the Greenfield/Sanchez family can look back on the good times with Darlene and find comfort as they work through this difficult time.
