Many animals would love to be able to tell their humans what they would like to eat each day. Just like humans, we can assume they like a variety of foods and in a perfect world they would be able to pick their meal instead of being stuck with whatever they are given!
Symon, the 4-year-old African Grey talking parrot, is quite clever and has learned to say many human words. As a testament to her learning, she uses her language skills to let her parents know exactly what she is thinking, especially when it comes to what she wants to eat for lunch!

On this particular day she announces that it’s “Lunchtime, yummy-yummy!” She then asks, “What’s for lunch? YUMMY!” Lastly, without even skipping a beat, she proceeds to give mom a list of the items she would like to eat. She says, “Carrots, broccoli, blackberries, blackberries!” For some reason, whenever she is talking about food in her videos, she mentions blackberries twice!
Symon is very animated and has lots of tricks up her sleeve. She can tell her parents what she wants to eat, what she would like to drink, and even what she would like to do that day.
Some of her favorite sayings are:
“Happy Birthday to you”
“Shake, shake… shake that booty!”
“Crickey, Mommy loves Vodka!”
“Do you want to go in the pool?”

There are many interesting facts about African Grey parrots including that they have a lifespan of up to 80 years! They are very sociable and are considered the most intelligent of the birds with some being able to learn and use more than 1,000 words. These birds can become extremely attached to their owners and require many hours of physical activity and exercise every day.
African Grey parrots also need to be mentally stimulated and therefore it is a good idea for owners to have lots of toys, climbing apparatus, as well as parrot-safe spaces in their homes so they don’t become bored in their cages.
