Friendships between farm animals are truly special. After all, how many animated movies and television shows do we have with talking animals that are childhood staples? Both on screen and in real life, these furry friends teach us so many lessons about life. A big one is that the friends and connections we have are important.
A mini donkey named Waylon reminds audiences of that in a recent video. In what is probably the sweetest friend meet cute, this donkey is introduced to a pony who is sure to be his new bestie, and at least for Waylon, it’s BFF love at first sight.

“After losing his pony buddy, Waylon found another pony, and it’s safe to say his heart might heal,” explains @holly113366 in the video. If you’ve ever lost a friend, then you know how much of a void that loss can leave in your life. Fortunately for Waylon, this pony called China is now there to keep him company.
And it seems like Waylon couldn’t be happier to have found a new friend in China. In the video, he’s being asked, “Do you love her?” His answer is a very clear and enthusiastic nod of his head in the affirmative. By his reaction, he definitely understood the question if you ask me, and people do not know how to deal with this level of cuteness.
“Oh my gosh! That’s the cutest thing I’ve seen in a long time. So sweet!” @patikke said when writing about their interaction, and their pairing has people smiling and gushing all over the comments section.

Are Donkeys Herd Animals?
Many commenters were glad Waylon wasn’t lonely anymore after losing a friend. @angelap5394 even asked, “Awe, they are herd animals, right? The loneliness is so hard.” To that, @holly113366 replied, “Yes! They will become extremely broken hearted if alone.”
According to The Open Sanctuary Project, donkeys and horses make good companions and can develop strong bonds over time. I have no doubt that Waylon and China will be best friends for life, and I can’t wait to see what other adorable moments are in store for this duo!
