TikToker Alissa Moulster shared a video in June of her cat saying goodbye to the kittens they were fostering, and the cat even tried to get mom to let her keep them. You might want to grab a tissue for this one!
The video starts with the kittens already in the cat carrier and ready to leave their temporary home. The unnamed cat understands what’s happening, and quickly jumps up on the carrier, trying to get mom to put it back down. It’s both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.
@alissaxxjo No. My heart is aching. Why did I think I was strong enough to do this 😭
Alissa’s sweet video got us right in the feelers! We wanted her to change her mind and keep those sweet babies for her precious cat. Viewers also agreed. @ataudrey said, “Excuse me, you need to keep that kitten!” @kkaylee voight said the same thing, “Let your baby pick one baby to keep!” and Alissa replied, “They were already adopted by another family. I was literally on my way to give them to the adoptive family.”
@Celia Anastasia knew the feeling, “That’s how I end up with four kittens and got kicked out of the foster family list LOL!” @vanessa added, “And that’s why I can’t foster!”

Why Fostering is So Important
We have a dog and while we’ve never thought about getting another one, we have thought about fostering. Fostering is a great way to help local shelters and rescues get pets socialized and ready for new homes. You can have a pet live with you temporarily – from weeks to years – and work with them to teach them how to interact with humans and other animals, something that some pets never learn how to do if they’ve always been on their own or in abusive or neglect situations.
Foster parents also teach basic commands, like how to sit, stay, and shake for example. They provide a loving and warm environment so animals can learn what a safe and comfortable home is. They learn to accept love and positive attention while also learning boundaries and rules.
While fostering isn’t for everybody, it’s very rewarding. If interested in fostering, contact a local animal shelter or rescue. But be warned, you might fall in love and decide to adopt instead of giving your fostered fur baby back!
