Summer is the perfect time to have fun outdoors, whether you prefer a relaxing walk through nature or a fun day on the lake. Odds are your family dog will be just as happy to get outside as you will be, and they’ll keep themselves entertained and satisfied with all the wonderful sights, sounds, and smells in the world.
Many dogs, like Olive the Goldendoodle pup, love to splash in the water, but it’s important to teach them the basics of swimming and water safety before letting them dive in. That’s why Olive’s mom taught her a very important skill that could one day save her life.
This smart dog won’t hesitate to dive off a boat into her favorite lake, but she has no trouble getting back in the boat, too. She learned how to climb the boat’s ladder with a bit of practice and encouragement, so now she always has a way to get out of the water!

Good girl, Olive! Any water-loving dog can dive off a boat, but most of them need a boost to get back in. This only goes to show how smart Doodle dogs like her can be.
Even though most dogs are capable of learning to swim (many pick up on it instantly!), most pups need help when it comes to climbing out of a pool or body of water. This usually isn’t a hassle, as dogs should never be swimming unattended, but it could also quickly turn dangerous if no one notices a dog getting tired or struggling to swim.

“We taught our Labradoodle to do the same thing,” one commenter shared. “She loved the lake more than anything else.” It’s so magical to share a special place like a lake with your four-legged BFF, and spending a little time planning for safety will ensure these places are always fun and memorable.
As impressive as this is, other commenters weren’t convinced. One person joked, “Every time I see this type of dog, I swear they’re humans, and this confirmed it.” LOL!
Doodle dogs tend to have long legs and very human-like eyes, so it’s easy to see why people feel this way. Seeing Olive climbing up the ladder from far away must be equally as unnerving. Luckily, this adorable pup is a real dog, and she’s ready for another summer full of sunny days on the lake.
