Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is never easy. It’s also heartbreaking to watch our other fur babies go through it. TikToker Vanessa recently said goodbye to one of her dogs and shared a touching video showing her Boxer saying goodbye before his sibling passed, and it’s giving people all the feels.
Vanessa’s dog that it ready to pass is at the vet’s office, clearly in bad shape. The dog’s older sibling, the Boxer, is being brought in to say goodbye. He sweetly looks for his sister in each room he passes. When he finally finds her, he gives her the sweetest kiss.
@vnssxa The way he looks for her in every room they pass by 🥹 my heart is forever broken 💔 #bestfriends #grief #boxerdog #lossofdog #goodbye @Joshua Gatlin
My heart! Vanessa and her family are lucky that there was time for her pooch to say goodbye. It’s a beautiful memory we’re sure she will treasure forever.

Commenter Reactions to The Final Goodbye
As you can imagine, people had a lot to say about Vanessa’s video. Viewers left close to 4,000 comments about the quiet moment.
@IAM_DianaRene shared, “It’s necessary to allow them to see, smell, spend time with so they understand. Allow them to grieve, too.” Another commenter added, “I let one of my dogs be present when I put down the other one so she would know she was gone. She immediately laid down next to her as if she knew and respectfully mourned as well.” @Commenters agreed with @Jody.girl when she said, “This should be allowed at every goodbye.”
Commenter @Packer53040 pointed out, “It’s never goodbye, it’s see you later. It still hurts like heck!” VB4Ever shared, “This hurts worse because they are looking for answers. I think they need to know, though. Sending love and light.” @David E added, “I have left instructions with my family that if I die before my pup, I want him to see me to say goodbye, I don’t want him thinking I left him all alone.”
@Danielle Albert shared this sad story, “I worked as a tech for many years. We did a house call euthanasia on a Newfoundland; her brother lay beside her with his head on her for a while. It was so heartbreaking but peaceful.”
Just like us humans, dogs need closure too. I hope the dog’s brother has something of hers that he can cherish and keep with him as a reminder.
