It’s no secret that Maine Coons are very big cats, but they don’t start out that way. When they’re born, they’re just tiny kittens…they just don’t stay that way for long!
Zhana, is a Maine Coon cat breeder and owner of Wild Mane in California. She shared a video on TikTok recently that shows how quickly these cats grow, and it’s blowing people’s minds. The video shows clips of one kitten from 1 week old all the way up to 12 weeks old. The growth starts slowly, but wow! By 12 weeks old, he looks huge!

Commenters were also blown away by the cat’s rate of growth. @madelina pillo shared, “My boy is a 5-year-old Maine Coon short hair mix. It’s a little deceiving at times!” @Isaac Blake pointed out, “By 3 weeks they look so developed!”
@Liam joked, “‘I’m all ears‘ LOL!” @secretly.hiccup was a jokester, too, “Is it normal that they split into 4 at 8 weeks old?” @LIA said what we were all thinking, “I’ll take all of them, thank you, ma’am!”

How Fast Do Maine Coon Cats Grow?
There’s not a domestic cat breed larger than the Maine Coon. Maine Coons are the biggest cat breed around, and grow to stand 10–16 inches tall and weigh between 15 and 25 pounds. Their size and intimidating looks also make them one of the most popular cat breeds around, which also means they’re expensive to purchase.
It does take some time for a Maine Coon kitten to reach full growth. The kittens grow rapidly between three and six months, especially weight-wise. Full size is typically reached by around 18 months old.
