Are Pit Bulls and American Bullies the Same?
In the video’s caption, Glasses’ mom used hashtags for both Pit Bull and American Bully. People often confuse American Bullies with Pit Bulls, and they do resemble each other, though Bullies are usually larger. However, these American Bulldogs are descendants of English Bulldogs and were bred to work on farms. Unlike English Bulldogs who aren’t very energetic, these guys are athletes and love to exercise and play.
Another Pet Helpful article describes them as, “a muscular, heavy-boned, courageous, and devoted dog that gets along well with kids and strangers and makes for a great family dog.” They’re gentle with their humans, especially little ones, and other animals.
Canine Journal shares the easiest way to tell the two breeds apart, “The Pitbull is muscular and athletic in appearance and an overall proportionate-looking dog. The Bully is not a proportionately built dog, which is the easiest way to tell them apart. The Bully is a squat and wider dog than he is tall. He looks a lot like an English Bulldog but wider with more muscles. It is their scary-dog appearance combined with their history that makes many people unduly frightened. You’ve only got to look at their ear-to-ear smiles to know they are big softies!”
