A Golden Retriever named Maya and her human parents become overnight moms and dad to a trio of baby geese, and their story is warming hearts. The goslings became orphaned from their goose parents and found their way to Maya’s home. The goslings’ new parents worked hard to make sure they learned how to be geese, and it will make you smile.
Maya’s mom says in the video caption that they all acted as the goslings’ mom, babysitter, and flight school instructor. Not to mention, playmates, because it’s clear that the goslings love to play with Maya!
Maya and family named the geese Maverick, Gander, and Goldie, and the best part of the video was watching them learn and practice their flight skills! Maya’s mom calls them ‘the newest graduates of Maya’s flight school’. They’re pros at it now!
We loved watching them swim in the pool, too. They looked like they were having fun!

Reactions to Maya the Golden’s Baby Geese
Viewers left some very fun comments about Maya and her babies. @MissHelenDegenerate cautioned, “Please be careful. I have seen dogs drink from the same water as ducks before and they can actually start quacking and waddling if they drink too much!”
Commenter @joan_caudra shared, “@mayamoo_golden It would be so great if they kept coming back like in the movie. Fly Away Home. You are so lucky. Thanks for saving the goslings!”
@tammynoelmcd asked, “I love this!!! Will they stick around now that they have their wings?” Maya’s mom responded, “@tammynoellemcd They officially left on their own yesterday, but they did come back to sleep here overnight. They went exploring again this morning, so we will see (and hope).” She responded a few days later with an update, “They did come say hey today! Hung out for a couple of hours and flew off again.”
@keup66 shared his experience, “In the beginning they’ll disappear for a day or 2. eventually they take off with a flock and come back yearly. At that point they are pretty wild and hard to get close to. They always come back for about a week to their home but keep their distance. At least for me that’s how it went.”
We’ll be watching for more updates, but we’re so glad Maya’s family has such a beautiful video of their time together. I’m sure Maya already misses them!
