
In a wonderful bit of news, sea lions have returns to the Denver Zoo. Their new habitat recently opened to much excitement.
Many happy school-age children got to witness this enchanting spectacle as the sea lions put on a show to welcome everyone to their new home.
As this video shows, their new habitat is quite adorable. A façade of colorful coastal houses is the backdrop, with their massive saltwater pool providing plenty of room for these wonderful aquatic creatures to swim and play.
According to this video, Gunnison, a 300-pound sea lion with an enchanting personality, stole the show, entertaining the crowd of children who came to watch him with all kinds of adorable antics.
He is one of four pinnipeds that recently arrived at the Denver Zoo via their Conservation Alliance in the wake of its new state-of-the-art $19 million sea lion habitat. The previous sea lion habitat that this one has replaced had been in use since 1987.

Of particular importance is that this new facility has been renovated so that all of its pools contain saltwater. Previously, the Denver Zoo’s exhibit pools used freshwater, while its holding pools were manually salted by zoo staff.
This other video also celebrates his triumphant habitat opening. According to this video’s caption, this new habitat has been designed just for the sea lions and gives them more space than ever before, along with better views.
And as this video shows, one of the sea lions is so excited to get into the water in their new exhibit that they practically hop around like a bunny rabbit to get there!
And now, these magnificent sea lions can join their animal friends at this wonderful place. It’s definitely an exciting time to go to the Denver Zoo!
