TikToker Jadriana Soard wanted to get a couple of goats, but her husband initially said no. After she explained that goats love eating weeds and would help keep the yard tidy, he finally agreed. The only problem now? They turned out to be lazy goats!
Jadriana shared a video of her new goats at the end of June. The video starts with her panning up to the porch, where the two goats are lounging on rocking chairs instead of doing their jobs. Coffee ignores her completely, like they didn’t even hear her. Watch to the end to see Cocoa’s response to mom asking what she’s supposed to be doing – it’s not what you’d expect!
@jadriana_soard It’s the wink at the end for me 😆😉
They get caught and neither one of the goats felt guilty about it at all! In fact, Cocoa winked at Jadriana like she was saying, “Ha! I got away with slackin’ on the job!” As commenter @April Zabiel pointed out, “They are hanging on the porch like they own it LOL! Goats are so funny and have such personalities lol!”
But there’s no way Jadriana could be mad at them; these little goats are way too cute for that!
Do Goats Eat Weeds?
We’re going to give Cocoa and Coffee the benefit of the doubt; maybe they were working hard all afternoon and decided to stop for a break. You might be wondering if goats really do like eating weeds, and the answer is a resounding YES!
We all know goats will eat anything and everything, and that includes weeds. Backyard Sidekick shared, “Goats will eat almost every kind of weed there is. They are natural munchers and will munch on almost anything in your yard. However, they have a particular fondness for some weed growth over others.” In fact, goats even prefer weeds over grass.
The article goes on to explain, “Goats are an excellent form of weed control. They can pick these plants out, leaving most of the field untouched. If you want your lawn mowed and clear of weeds, you may benefit from adding a bunch of goats to your yard.”
There are a few weeds you should avoid letting your goats munch on. They include, horse nettle, mountain laurel, poison hemlock, water hemlock, and Jimson weed, as these plants are toxic and could potentially kill your goat quickly, especially if you don’t know they ate them.
