I feel so very proud when I think about how I found and chose my family’s rescue dogs. Both times, I could tell that we were bringing home the sweetest dog, but I still can’t believe how lucky we got. I like to say that I know how to choose the right rescue dog, but it turns out even other dogs know their new fur sibling when they see them.
Just ask Maggie the English Bulldog! This special and social pup could make friends anywhere she goes, but when she met another Bulldog named Gus at her doggie daycare, not even she could have predicted what would happen next. The pair quickly became inseparable, so Maggie’s mom felt like there was only one correct choice when the daycare let her know that her dog’s new friend was looking for a home.

Welcome home, Gus! This is the sweetest friendship and adoption story I’ve ever heard, and I sure hope the employees from that dog daycare are patting themselves on the back. They are true heroes for helping these BFFs connect and go home together.
I spent years going to day care as a child, and I remember just how magical it was to see my day care friends every afternoon. I was lucky enough that one of those friends was my next-door neighbor, so I can relate to these dogs’ joy when they went from pals to fur siblings!

“I love that your dog adopted a dog,” one commenter joked. She really did! This would make the sweetest children’s book or animated movie, but even if Maggie and Gus’s story stays exclusively on social media, they still have the greatest canine love story of all time.
Clearly, these dogs were meant to be together! As another commenter said, this is “a better love story than Twilight.” This is some Nicholas Sparks-level romance!

Instead of building a house on a lake or reminiscing through photo albums, these dogs’ Happily Ever After includes a loving home together where their biggest worry will be finding the best nap spot. It’s what every rescue dog deserves!
