Most pet parents know that you can in fact choose your family. Whether they’re adopted or happen to follow you home one day, you can build unbreakable bonds with these chosen family members. Our animal friends can also add to their herd in unexpected ways, and we love to see their unique relationships when they add family members from different species.
A Cow, who goes by Daisy, has adopted a new family member as her own in a recent video posted by @dakotafunnyfarm. Her human tells us in the captions, “Today was the day I’m officially convinced my cow thinks my dog is her baby.” Honestly, the way Daisy cares for this precious dog nicknamed Sarge is the sweetest thing!

Sarge is one lucky dog! We can all see that this mama cow is so protective over this pup. Daisy means business and has decided that no one is messing with her baby — at least not on her watch. In her case, that means keeping an eye out for “the big bad Gunner bear,” who we are introduced to in the video as an alpha dog.
As mentioned in the captions, “Anytime Gunner tries to lay by Sarge, her wrecking ball feature kicks in.” If you need more proof, it’s provided in the video as “Exhibit A.” Basically, Gunner and Daisy butt heads over Sarge quite a lot, and it’s the funniest thing. Daisy playfully pushes Gunner back time and time again. He really doesn’t stand a chance of getting past this mama.

There has to be history between those two because when a placid pig called Shirley struts by, Daisy gives her a pass. Though, she always has eyes on Gunner. Can’t help but think there’s never a dull day with this crew, and commenters had too much fun weighing in on these farmhouse relationships.

Speaking on the bond between Daisy and Sarge, @snoozebear chimed in saying, “She really does think [he ’s] her baby. And well, he’s just milking it for all it’s worth. Could she be the new Alpha of your pack?!” Daisy would make a good alpha. She’s definitely got the protector role down!
Commenter @daniellaloren added, “The side-eye smirk on Gunner [when] throwing his head back to the camera while riling her up is everything.” We can’t agree more. Gunner and Daisy have some kind or rivalry. Though, their human mentioned, “Deep down (real deep) I know they all love each other.”
It’s obvious Daisy and Sarge have a very special relationship that no one can get between, and this is just one day of them together.
At this point, there’s no separating this mama cow from her baby dog, and we’re pretty sure they’re both OK with that.
