I know plenty of dog parents like me who wish that our furry friends could communicate with words, but some lucky families actually do get to talk to their pets. Many parrot species have the physical and intellectual capabilities to mimic sounds, including the human voice.
Even though talking parrots simply mimic sounds instead of thinking of a response and then speaking it out loud, their vocal abilities do lead to lots of special moments. Birds can say the darndest things!
An African Grey Parrot named Molly always has sass to spare, but on June 2, she directed her attitude toward none other than Alexa, the voice-activated Amazon control. Her diva energy is too much, even for a machine!

Molly is so lucky that Alexa can’t talk back! She told the virtual assistant to turn off and stay off at least five times. If that doesn’t get the job done, surely nothing will!

“Birds using digital assistants is gonna lead to them ruling the world and I’m so here for it,” one commenter admitted. Perhaps we’ve just witnessed the beginning of the revolution! Molly is clearly a smart bird, and if she can learn how to control Alexa, just think of what else these animals can do.
Luckily for this outgoing parrot, she always has an audience to entertain and tease. I almost lost it when she made a gassy sound and immediately blamed ‘Grandma.’ She’s positively ruthless!
Talking Parrots
Molly the African Grey is just one talking parrot out of dozens, perhaps hundreds, who have taken over the Internet in recent years. Whether they’re arguing with another pet or causing chaos in the shower, parrots will always find a way to make life interesting.
Parrots are extremely social animals, which is one reason why they have such a diverse set of vocalization skills. A happy bird may chat with just about anyone, whether you’re their best friend or a complete stranger.
As amusing as it is to hear parrots talk, it’s important to remember that birds don’t speak for themselves when using human words. They’re just mimicking sounds they’ve heard before!
Even so, it’s worth enjoying every second of a bird’s conversation if you’re lucky enough to hear it. Bonding with a bird can be such a gift!
