Watching this baby giraffe sprint awkward laps around their unimpressed Mom feels oddly familiar. Perhaps because we all know: this is essentially all toddlers.
My now 17-year-old did this to me at one point as well. This baby giraffe has the same energy, the same chaos, the same vertigo inducing vibe. He just has longer legs, better balance, and is incredibly agile for being so tall. Check it out!

Baby giraffes are born nearly 6 feet tall and can stand and run within an hour of being born! They weigh anywhere from 100-150 lbs. at birth and are incredibly fast: an adult can run up to 35 mph. But despite all that power and grace, only half make it past their first few months. Predators like lions, crocodiles, hyenas, and leopards are always watching, waiting for that one stumble.
Which is why all of these zoomies aren’t just adorable. They’re practice! Evolution is basically saying “Run like your life depends on it, because it does!”

Still, this baby seems clearly enthused and impressed with itself. You can practically feel the “did you see me?” energy. They seem to check in on Mom after every lap!
Viewers agree noticing the pride on the baby’s face.
Morethanjust books points out, “The little stop and look like, ‘did you see me? I’m fast, huh?'”
Quack & Feathers comments, “It’s a perfect image of a parent and their toddler.”
While HikeWithDeb says, “As a Mom of three, I so relate to this Mom and her dear, sweet patience.”
It’s a scene most of us have experienced: the wild joy of a little one discovering what their body is capable of, and the proud parent who lets them run wild… but never too far!
