Otter Babies and Their Mamas
Otter babies are born blind; they don’t actually open their eyes until they have been in this world for 40 days. Obviously, their mamas are not going to let them wander out of their sight in that condition.
After their babies can see, mama otters will begin teaching them how to swim and walk. Typically, otter babies will stay with their mamas for about a year after they are born. While they are blind, their mothers will only feed them milk.
However, after otter babies learn how to swim, their mamas will begin feeding them plants and tiny fish.
Interestingly, baby otters actually do not like the water when they are first introduced to it. So, their mothers often have to drag them into the water so that they can learn how to swim.
Fortunately for the adorable baby otter in this video, he gets to safely cuddle on his mama’s chest, enjoying the simple life and just being as cute as possible!
