A tragic explosion in Ohio has had a happy ending for several animals that were rescued by firefighters. On June 23, 60 firefighters and 22 fire companies were called to an explosion at a Cleveland area apartment complex.
Once they entered the building, firefighters quickly realized that the building had been home to a number of animals, and the rescuers begun racing against the clock to save them. While the origin of the explosion that caused the fire remains a mystery, there are several things we do know about the blaze.
A representative from the Cleveland Fire Department offered a happy update on the department’s Facebook page, celebrating that they were able to save so many animals. “Update from Garden Valley: 4 turtles, 2 cats, a small dog, and a lizard all rescued alive this morning,” an update about the fire read. Additionally, the posted noted that two other large dogs were able to get out with their pet parents.

The fire department shared some photos of the lucky pets in the post as well, showing just how many adorable little creatures were rescued as a result of the firefighting team and their hard work. All in all, each of the animals seemed to be in good health, and only one required treatment.
According to the Cleveland Fire Department, that cat that required additional care was sent to the West Park Animal Hospital for treatment. The post also included some heartwarming photos of people being reunited with their pets after the fire was extinguished.
We love a happy ending, and this one seems to tick all of the boxes. Hopefully the authorities are able to get to the root of what caused the explosion so that nobody has to go through something similar again.
