Fostering animals in need is an incredibly selfless act, but it can come with challenges, especially if you already have pets at home since you never quite know how they’ll react to a new, temporary family member. In this heartwarming video shared on TikTok by Soccer Cat Mom in mid-June, her adult cat Poppy meets a tiny foster kitten for the first time, and it’s hands-down the sweetest thing you’ll see today!
While the kitten, adorably named Wasabi, isn’t quite sure about the big cat, Poppy immediately goes into mama mode and starts caring for the baby. All those hugs and kisses will make you smile!
@soccercatmom
Poppy is literally hugging that baby and might not ever let her go! And Wasabi, who was so scared and ‘hissy’, just melted right into her. This might be my favorite cat/kitten introduction ever!
As you can probably guess, Soccer Cat Mom’s video went viral, racking up more than 4 million views and nearly 8 thousand comments very quickly. @TeachandSpin got more than 80 thousand likes when they pointed out, “She looked at you like ‘Bring me the baby!'”
@kaitlyn m got nearly 45 thousand likes for her comment, “Poppy’s purpose in life is to give the love they need and to bring those little babies safety they might not have had before, and I appreciate being able to see such a miracle of love.” @Tegan swooned, “The way Poppy holds them babies. My heart can’t take it!” @Angie_Marie was spot on with, “Poppy isn’t a cat. She is an angel!”
Commenter @Curated by Keeks spoke for all of us when she said simply, “Hand me to Poppy at this point….” @Mia agreed, “Is Poppy taking appointments? Because I think I need a turn.”

More About Poppy and Her Foster Kittens
Wasabi isn’t the only kitty that Poppy’s been loving up on. There are actually two other kittens, with the matching names Siracha and Tabasco.
Siracha was also immediately smitten with Poppy, but Tabasco was a bit more standoffish than the other two. He finally warmed up, as you’ll see in this video.
But just like moms everywhere, now that the kittens consider Poppy their mama, they always want to be with her, and she never gets any alone time. She doesn’t seem to mind, though, and takes them under her wing, um, paw, whenever they come around. They make the cutest little family!
