Bella and Trixie are two adorable cockatoos who love to get their groove on. They also enjoy hanging out outside when the weather is nice. One day recently, as they were just listening to some tunes, they decided to have a dance off, and it’s the best thing you’ll see today.
The girls are listening to Earth, Wind & Fire’s hit song, “September.” Trixie’s feeling the music and starts the dance off. Not to be outdone by her sister, Bella decides to show up and show out, totally outdoing her sister’s dance moves!

If these two don’t make you want to get up and dance, nothing will! I don’t know who was recording the girls getting their groove on, but I’m sure they started dancing too!

When pet birds hear music, it’s quite common for them to start dancing and they may even sing along. They bob and weave and move back and forth like the birds in this video. They’re not always on beat with the music, but you can tell they’re cutting the rug.
Fun fact: Research has shown that there are certain genres that most birds like and others that they dislike. Most birds enjoy listening to rock and pop but don’t like techno. If you have a pet bird at home, make sure to play several different styles of music to determine which your bird enjoys the most. My parents have had an Amazon parrot named Otis for nearly 50 years. His favorite song is Old MacDonald Had a Farm and he always whistles and sings it when he’s happy or excited. It’s so fun to watch!
