Oh, siblings—we can’t live with them, and we can’t live without them. Every sibling annoys their brothers or sisters to some extent, but there are also plenty of fun and meaningful moments that cancel out the hard times.
Even fur siblings can have a love-hate relationship, though sweet Dachshund sisters Hazel and Heidi started their relationship off on the most positive note. It’s hard to imagine these sweet girls ever getting on each other’s nerves!
They met for the very first time on June 9 when Heidi came home for the very first time. She was so tiny that she could stand beneath her identical-looking sister, but they were immediate BFFs despite their age and size difference.

Welcome home, Heidi! You couldn’t have found your way into a better family. Between Hazel’s wagging tail, the puppy’s fearless attitude, and their identical looks, I don’t think these sausage sisters could be any cuter.

“Commenters noticed and loved how “Big Sissy is so protective right from the start. That’s her puppy!” She didn’t bat an eye when Heidi ran underfoot or hid beneath her, which is the ultimate sign of acceptance. When the baby’s tail started wagging in sync with her sister, however, my eyes nearly got misty!
Considering their similar looks and affection with one another, it wouldn’t be surprising if these two were mistaken for mom and puppy. If they were any more closely bonded, Heidi would have been looking for milk!
Raising Dachshunds
Dachshunds like these gals have always been ranked moderately high in most popular dog breeds, but those who adopt Dachshunds tend to have more than one. These social dogs are affectionate, playful, and oh-so-cute; it’s no wonder why two are better than one!
These sausage dogs still need playtime, exercise, and mental enrichment like any other dog, but their small size makes them easy to pick up and carry. It’s the best of both worlds! These pups will be just as happy to lounge on the couch as they will to run around the yard, but they’ll always prefer to be where you are.
