There’s no faster way to a dog mom’s heart than with a tiny puppy. It doesn’t matter where I am, who I’m with, or what I’m doing—the world stops spinning whenever I see a puppy. Until the little cutie is out of my sight, I can’t do anything else besides adore and appreciate them.
Fortunatley, I’m not alone! Plenty of pet parents and animal admirers melt at the sight of any dog, let alone a tiny, adorable puppy like Derby the mini Dachshund.
The teeny tiny sausage dog came home with her human mama, Izzy, in early June, and she’s already learning so much about life in her new home. On June 16, Izzy shared the sweetest video clip of Derby learning to ‘give paw’ with her itty bitty legs, and it truly doesn’t get any cuter.

Aww—could this Dachshund puppy be any cuter? She looks at her human mama with so much love and adoration, but my heart nearly skipped a beat when she looked into the camera toward the end of the clip. Those puppy dog eyes could put anyone under a spell!
“OMG, she’s precious,” one commenter admitted. “I’m stealing her.” I can see why you’d be tempted! Derby the Dachshund is irresistible, especially when she lifts up her tiny paw, but she won’t stay this little forever.

Puppies grow up whether you like it or not! Even though her body is only a couple of inches off the floor, giving high-fives will become easier as she gets bigger.
Then again, she is a miniature Dachshund, so her legs may not grow much more. If that’s the case, this low-rider will make the best of what she has at her tiny height. Besides, a little practice always makes perfect!
“My Dachshund’s legs never got longer, so he can only do ‘paw’ when he’s on his back,” another commenter shared. Aww, now that’s one tiny dog! This anecdote goes to show that even miniature pups like Derby can lead long, healthy, and happy lives, which is what every dog deserves.
