Whoever said that dogs and cats can’t get along has clearly never met a pup as sweet as Gunnar. This bouncing black Pit Bull is a beacon of goofy energy and good vibes, and he’s ready to be instant BFFs with anyone he meets. What makes this patient Pittie extra special, however, is his affinity for felines.
Gunnar has helped his mom, Jenni, raise and rehabilitate many foster cats, and it’s safe to say that he’s a pro kitten sitter. He gets so excited to meet his new feline friends, even when the kittens aren’t so thrilled to see him!
This happened on June 14, when he finally got to meet the newest foster cats he’d been sniffing from a distance for several days. To say that he was excited would be an understatement, but the hissing kittens feel the exact opposite!

LOL, he’s trying so hard to contain himself! Gunnar absolutely adores kitties like these nervous fosters, regardless of how they feel about him. Needless to say, he has plenty of experience with spicy kittens, but they may have never seen a dog before!
Commenters are having a field day with the spooked black cat, calling them “Halloween kitty” and “little void.” The best part is that Gunnar looks like he could be one of them! These three could be long-lost triplets if the kitten ever faces their fears and approaches the friendly dog.
“At least the kittens have some self-preservation skills to puff up,” another commenter shared. “Mine just stood there or flopped on their backs while my dog licked them. I swear all involved think she is their mama.”
That’s even sweeter! Animals can bond with one another regardless of their species, age, or gender, though it may take a while before these rescued black kitties feel confident around their much bigger brother.
@hey_itsjenni Replying to @A day in the life Here he is with some of the kittens he’s helped raise (a few of them became foster fails)
As you can see, Gunnar has a well-stacked resume when it comes to raising kittens. He knows a thing or two about being a friend and comforting rescue cats, and I have a feeling that it’s only a matter of time until these black cats are feeling his love, too.
Good boy, Gunnar!
