The pain of losing an animal is so real. It impacts everyone — even the other pets in the house. One orange cat is so sad after losing her Golden Retriever bestie. The dog crossed the rainbow bridge six months ago, but the mark the pup left on the cat is so clear. She hasn’t forgotten him. She even sleeps with his collar every single night.
We can only imagine how the cat’s mama, Emma Faye, must feel. She’s been through the absolute worst as a pet parent. And now all she can do is watch as her surviving animal grieves and grieves.
@emmafayedorsey I sobbed so hard making this..I know she misses him as much as I do #petloss #grief #griefjourney #orangecat #orangetabby #goldenretriever #overtherainbowbridge #lossofalovedone
There are some misguided people out there who don’t believe that animals can mourn. But animals do have emotions. They may not be as complex as ours, but as the video from Emma proves, they really do exist.
The clip shows the orange cat grasping onto the late Golden Retriever’s collar.

“To anyone who thinks animals can’t feel loss…it’s been six months since my dog passed and my cat still cuddles his collar every night before bed,” Emma wrote in the video’s text overlay.
“I sobbed so hard making this…I know she misses him as much as I do,” Emma explained in the caption.
People in the comments section were a mess over the video. We don’t blame them. It’s just heartbreaking.
“I’ve been crying for 10 minutes now,” admitted one person in the comments section.
“Hey so this emotionally devastated me and I will be sending the therapy bill,” joked another person.
“Our cat does the same thing. She loved our dog,” added a third commenter.
While another person shared their own tragic tale: “After our dog passed from cancer, our blind cat would wander around and just howl. She did this for months. Animals grieving is so sad,” they explained.
@emmafayedorsey It’s been 6 months. I don’t know how to do life without him and everything still hurts #goldenretriever #souldog #petloss #grief #griefjourney #loss
As you can see, loss really does impact everyone. They might seem fine, but your pet may be feeling way more than you know.
