Dogs are the best! They deserve everything good because they are sweet, pure and innocent. They’re always ready to lose their minds with excitement when you walk into a room–even if you’ve only been gone for 63 seconds.
Do you know what’s even better? A Golden Retriever smiling because it’s his birthday, and he has a cake, and his favorite people are singing “Happy Birthday” to him. He’s in a big backyard where he can eat cake, romp around, eat more cake, and romp some more.
Are you ready for total cuteness overload? Behold: Sammy the Golden Retriever’s 7th birthday Celebration!

HOW CUTE IS THAT FACE?!?!? Sammy is absolutely gorgeous, and he looks happy, proud, and excited all at once. Look at the way his tail wags when he hears his birthday song! And that cake! It’s so tempting that at one point, he’s like, “EH, it’s worth the risk,” and nearly sticks his sweet little face right into the candle to get at it.
Luckily, he manages to control himself until the song is over. What a great way to give back to such a good boy who has given his parents so much love over the years.

Statistics show that 70% of people celebrate their pet’s birthday every year. If you don’t yet–but want to start–here are a few great ways to commemorate your dog’s special day:
- Host a birthday party complete with all of your dog’s favorite people (and animals), presents, and cake. (Here’s a great recipe for a dog-friendly cake.)
- Take your dog on an adventure! Whether it’s a few hours at a dog-friendly brewery or coffee shop or a weekend at a pet-welcoming resort, your dog will love the new sights and quality time with you.
- Treat your pet to a shopping spree. Head to your local pet store and let them pick out their own treats and toys.
- Give back in their name. Donate to a local animal welfare organization. Helping other dogs find their forever homes is a great way to honor your furry friend.
