Croatian Auto Club (HAK) Forecasts Increased Traffic Across Croatia for August 7th, Citing Favorable Conditions Overall

Renato MusecRenato MusecAugust 7, 2025No Comments3 Mins Read0 Views
A wide, eye-level shot of multiple lanes of passenger vehicles queuing at the Lučko tollbooths on the A1 highway near Zagreb, Croatia, during a bright, clear August afternoon. Cars and SUVs, packed tightly, are slowly inching forward, their brake lights faintly visible. The road is dry under a cloudless blue sky. In the background, the subtle rolling green hills of the Croatian countryside are visible. The scene captures the high traffic density typical for summer travel on August 7, 2025, during peak hours, conveying an atmosphere of a busy but orderly highway.

The Croatian Auto Club (HAK) has released its latest traffic forecast for Thursday, August 7, 2025, announcing generally favorable driving conditions across Croatia. Despite this, drivers should anticipate increased traffic on key routes leading to the coast and continental parts of the country, as well as on approaches to tourist centers and on urban roads, particularly during peak hours.

According to HAK’s report, last updated on August 7th at 2:17 PM, favorable weather conditions are contributing to good road conditions. However, higher traffic density is anticipated on certain sections, potentially leading to occasional bottlenecks and minor delays. This primarily applies to urban roads and bypasses, specific highway sections, approaches to tourist destinations along the Adriatic coast, ferry ports, and areas with ongoing roadworks and temporary traffic regulation. Afternoon hours could bring congested driving and somewhat longer waits, especially at tollbooths, in tunnels, and at rest areas.

Border Crossings

Particular attention is drawn to the situation at border crossings. A high frequency of passenger vehicles is expected at crossings with Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia. Regarding freight traffic, significant congestion is present at the Bajakovo, Tovarnik, Svilaj, Županja, Stara Gradiška, and Jasenovac crossings.

Roadworks and Highway Conditions

Roadworks will also impact traffic flow. On the A2 Zagreb-Macelj highway, heading towards Macelj, the emergency lane is closed between the 33+750 and 33+500-kilometer marks. Until September 15th, traffic will flow in a single lane on sections between km 6+800 and 8+700 towards Zagreb, and between km 16+800 and 13+700 towards Macelj. Additionally, due to a damaged expansion joint on the Kuk viaduct (between km 41.900 and 41.500 heading towards Rupa), traffic is restricted to two lanes with a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h. On the A1 Zagreb-Ploče-Karamatići highway, increased traffic is reported in both directions between the Lučko and Bosiljevo 2 interchanges, with anticipated queues of approximately 1 km before the Lučko and Demerje tollbooths heading towards Zagreb. The Krk Bridge also reports increased traffic in both directions, with a queue stretching about 4 km towards the island.

Local Road Closures and Events

Locally, in Brnaze, due to ongoing works on state road DC1 and the Solin-Klis expressway, traffic is temporarily regulated: allowing free passage for all vehicles from Split towards Sinj, while traffic from Sinj towards Split is prohibited for vehicles longer than 7 meters. There will also be temporary closures of local roads due to events: ŽC6250 (Butina Street) in Murter from August 7th at 8:00 PM to August 8th at 2:00 AM, and ŽC2018 and LC20085 in Belica on August 15th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. State road DC6 in Gornji Viduševac will be closed on August 8th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for the commemoration of the military-police operation anniversary and the opening of the Wall of Victory.

Ferry Traffic and Driver Advice

Good news comes from ferry traffic, where no difficulties are anticipated. HAK advises drivers to check traffic conditions before setting off, using their information channels (radio, website, or mobile application), and to monitor meteorological conditions, adjusting their speed and driving style to the prevailing road conditions.
