Some relationship tropes are as old as time, like the father of the family and the dog he ‘didn’t want.’ While many of these grumpy dads dread the extra responsibility that comes with bringing home a new pet, it typically doesn’t take long before they fall under their furry friend’s spell, too. Resistance is futile!
No one knows this better than mom and dog mom @itsheatherteems and her husband. He wasn’t exactly thrilled to see a new dog in his wife’s passenger seat when she adopted a Dalmatian 3 years ago, but it was only a matter of days until Freya had her new dad wrapped around her paw.

LOL! Neither Freya the Dalmatian nor her new dad knew what to do or say in that moment, but that made their reactions all the more authentic and hilarious. Something tells me that this isn’t the first time Heather has brought home a surprise pet, either!

Dalmatians as Family Dogs
Although commenters had mixed feelings about Dalmatians as family dogs, the general consensus is that any dog breed could make a family pet, including Dalmatians! True, these pups can be high-energy and even stubborn, but with the right training and love, they can also be polite, affectionate, and great with kids.
Just look at Freya! This sweet girl has befriended her entire family, but she’ll never miss an opportunity to give her dad the best bear hugs.
@itsheatherteems I know a lot have only heard bad things about the Dalmatian breed. She was nervous when she first met him in my first video. But this was literally only night 3 of being with us. ❤️ I think she is doing fantastic.
Look how the tables have turned! This dog dad can’t get enough of Freya now, and the way they acted when they first met is truly recognizable. Love really can change everything, especially for a loving rescue dog like Freya.
