Visiting the U.S. National Parks is on many travelers’ bucket lists (mine included), but humans aren’t the only ones enjoying these natural wonderlands. Not only can dogs tag along at most National Parks, but you’re likely to see plenty of wildlife, too.
While wildlife sightings and bird watching are common, Lala’s interaction with a hummingbird in the Grand Canyon was remarkably wholesome and intimate. The traveler, who goes by @notthat_serious on TikTok, just wanted to have a snack, but the sweet moment that happened instead was unforgettable.
She actually fed a tiny hummingbird at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and it’s just as magical as it sounds.
@notthat_serious that one time we gave a hummingbird a ride & a snack at the bottom of Grand Canyon #grandcanyon #riverrats #whitewater
This is positively priceless! The little bird couldn’t resist the sight and scent of the orange, and who can blame them? There aren’t many flowers or fruits to be found at the bottom of the Grand Canyon (which is in the desert, no less), so this citrus must have tasted like heaven.
“He was probably exhausted and really needed that drink of sugar!” one commenter pointed out. “You might have saved his life .” That’s certainly possible! It may have been luck that brought Lala and the hungry hummingbird together, but she was so kind to let it drink for as long as possible.

As another viewer pointed out, this may have been just as special for the bird as it was for the tourist. They wrote, “A hummingbird remembers every single flower and food source it’s ever had. Every single one. Which means this was a core memory for it as well.”
It truly doesn’t get any sweeter than this! There’s so much to see and do in any National Park, but a special animal interaction like this will always make a traveler’s highlight reel. Besides, hummingbirds can be especially flighty and difficult to feed, so this was a win on many levels!
