There are so many ways to honor a pet who’s passed away, no matter how long it’s been since you said goodbye. Whether you create a keepsake, hold a ceremony, or write a letter to your special friend, there’s no wrong way to honor your feelings.
For a cat mom named Amanda, planting a tree in honor of her late cat felt the most meaningful. It sounds so rewarding and healing to watch the tree grow alongside her memories of her Siamese cat, but little did she know that her four-legged friend had one more surprise in store for her.
On June 30, Amanda looked outside to find a few adorable visitors sitting beneath the memorial tree. She could hardly believe her eyes as she watched the baby animals interact with the most beautiful butterfly.

Pass the tissues, please! This is the most beautiful thing to witness, especially when it’s all taking place around Amanda’s cat’s memorial tree. Is this real life or a scene from a movie?
Commenters couldn’t get over how the gentle kittens “were just watching, not chasing or hunting” the butterfly. It’s only natural for kittens to be curious and playful, but the butterfly enchanted these little babies too much to chase it. Something tells me that even they could understand what a special moment this was!

Another viewer provided extra insight about the angelic butterfly. Amanda felt like it was her cat’s spirit coming back to say hello, and others feel the same way.
“The butterfly is an Easter Tiger Swallowtail,” the commenter wrote. “All butterflies represent change and new beginnings. However, this specific butterfly symbolizes spirits who have passed away. I am a Death Doula, and I promise you our loved ones send messages.”
That’s so beautiful! However you interpret this video, there’s no denying what a sweet and special moment this was. It was exactly what Amanda needed, and it’s made thousands of people smile, tear up, and remember their own late pets in the process.
The video’s comments were just as wholesome as the video itself, but one comment in particular had me wiping my tears away. They wrote, “Love never dies. Wishing you and that little tree all of life’s happiness and goodness.”
