It’s no secret that Labrador Retrievers love to swim, and this Lab named Benny is no exception. He loves being in the pool with his humans, but there’s one small problem…he thinks he’s his toddler brother’s lifeguard and doesn’t let him swim!
Benny’s mom shared a video of the family enjoying a pool day, and it’s absolutely adorable. Benny’s brother is wearing floaties and trying to swim around the pool. Not on Benny’s watch, though! Watch as Benny makes sure his little brother not only gets to the safety of the pool steps but even tries to get him out of the pool entirely!
@bennyandthesheps Dog: ’Don’t worry kid, I’ve got this.’ He clocked in as a lifeguard and REFUSES to be relieved of duty 🫡😂 #labradorretriever #summer #dogsoftiktok #petsoftiktok
This is the sweetest thing ever and totally made our day! Benny’s mom said in the video’s caption, “He clocked in as a lifeguard and REFUSES to be relieved of duty LOL!” He could be our lifeguard anytime!

Growing up, our neighbors used to have a Rottweiler that acted like a lifeguard, too. They would put their baby in a pool float, and the dog would follow the float out, push it back to the pool’s edge, and walk next to the baby as they moved around, never letting it get farther out than he could reach. It was so cool to see!
