Many animals are naturally social creatures who thrive with the company of others, and animals also grieve when those friends and family members pass away. No one wants to imagine a pet or farm animal feeling sad, but it’s a heartbreaking and inevitable part of life.
Tragically, this was Waylon the miniature donkey’s reality after saying goodbye to his pony BFF. But just when things were looking truly bleak, someone special arrived at the barn to keep him company.

Just listen to him! Waylon is more than happy to be the welcome wagon for China, his new best friend. The precious miniature pony is still settling in, but it’s only a matter of time until these two are inseparable.

As other commenters pointed out, being alone can be detrimental to a herd animal’s well-being, so China’s arrival at the farm is a literal lifesaver. This rescue donkey has been through so much, but with the love of his human mom, Holly, and his new bestie, he’ll be feeling more like himself in no time at all.
