Anyone who’s had the honor of loving a dog knows just how loving, grateful, and intuitive they can be. However, it’s also worth noting that dogs are sometimes also sassy, stubborn, and even bratty. Then again, who isn’t? Our four-legged friends have personalities even bigger than they are, which is just one reason why we love them.
For the perfect example, look no further than Chio the Maltipoo puppy. Whether he’s mastering potty training or learning how to communicate with his new mom, this tiny dog doesn’t hesitate to show his smarts and personality.
On June 22, however, he couldn’t help but lose his cool when Mom didn’t open the door fast enough. The icy stare he served her truly said it all, but at least he didn’t retaliate by having an accident on the floor!
@jessi.op He’s like “UMMMM HELLO”. This dog is too much 😂😂😂 #maltipoo #dogsoftiktok #pottytrainninghacks #fyp #dogtok #maltipoopuppy #maltipoosoftiktok
LOL! Not only did Chio catch his mom peeking, but he was also ready to call her out about it! That expressive, fluffy face says more than any actions possibly could, though if you ask the Poodle mix, it should be the other way around.
“He said, ‘You trained me to ring this dang bell, now come on,” one commenter wrote. That’s exactly what I was imagining, too! After all this time spent training the puppy to use the bell to ask to go outside, it’s no wonder he expects quick service.
Other pet parents felt seen after watching this sassy dog try to boss his mama around. One viewer wrote, “I have a Cavapoo, and these Poodle mixes have an attitude like no one I’ve ever known.”
It’s true! My parents and I rescued a Cockapoo from a local shelter when I was in high school, and 14 years later, he is still the most spoiled dog I’ve ever met. He uses the same plates and water cups as the human members of the family, and if he doesn’t want to do something, he’s not going to do it.
Potty Training a Puppy
This bell method that Chio is learning is a popular potty training method for puppies and adult rescue dogs. The idea is to teach the dog to ring a bell (or press a button that makes a sound) whenever they want to go outside.
To begin, a pet parent would ring the bell themselves just before opening the door for their pup. Make sure the puppy is watching, or use their paw to ring the bell to help them get the idea. Over time, they can ask the puppy to ring the bell by themself before opening the door. Before you know it, the pup will be ringing the bell with no prompting whatsoever!
