With the summer almost upon us, it is that time of year again when everyone loves to go outside and have a good old-fashioned hose fight. Many human siblings are familiar with this storied summertime ritual.
And it turns out that canine siblings are familiar with it, too. As this adorable video shows, these two Rottweilers are all too happy to have a water fight. It’s totally adorable, and every bit as fun as you would imagine!
This is about to give a whole new meaning to the phrase “the dog days of summer!” Just look at these rascals go!
In classic sibling fashion, one is trying to chase the other around a table. The water is spraying everywhere, but these two are completely focused on each other. It’s almost like they are playing tag with a squirting hose.

They are also giving that deck a much-needed spray down. Talk about being a couple of good boys, these dogs are not only having a blast, but they are power washing the deck for their humans.
Then again, when their humans see what is likely to be a very high water bill after these shenanigans, these rambunctious puppies might end up in the doghouse, so to speak.
From good boys to menaces of the household and wasters of water, these Rottweilers are certainly keeping themselves busy this summer!
Why Do Dogs Enjoy Playing With Water?
It is not uncommon for many dogs to enjoy water play. Interestingly, while some canines simply enjoy splashing around and swimming, some dogs are far more excited by water and want to bite or snap at any water that moves.
This is very cute behavior, to be sure. But why do they do it? Simple, because it’s fun! However, there are also inherent risks associated with his behavior.
First off, a dog may become overexcited and not realize that they have had enough, which could cause them to ingest excessive amounts of water unintentionally.
This can lead to water intoxication. Water consumption becomes toxic for dogs when they have consumed around 1/3 of their body weight in water.
Symptoms of water intoxication are a lack of coordination, vomiting, excessive drooling, glazed eyes, lethargy, difficulty breathing, a loss of consciousness, and seizures.
There is also a danger of aspiration pneumonia, which is what happens when a dog inhales water into their lungs.
Thankfully, the adorable Rottweilers in this video don’t seem to be in any danger of aspiration pneumonia or water intoxication.
