If you prefer animals over people, like I do, you know how special every animal encounter is. Whether it’s a baby deer resting in the garden or a cute dog out for a walk with their human, there’s nothing like a furry friend to brighten your day.
However, the only things sweeter than animal sightings are unlikely animal friends. It’s no secret that dogs often get along with cats, horses, and other critters, but they aren’t the only ones who enjoy meeting new pals. Just ask Tito the Siamese cat!
Normally, cats stalk, stare at, and even chase birds—but not Tito. He is endlessly fascinated with his seagull friend, Prickle, and fortunately, the feeling is mutual. Gulls aren’t often considered a perk of living in a coastal area like San Diego, California, but this curious kitty always enjoys his friend’s visits.
Tito and his humans introduced the unlikely pals in a June 12 TikTok video, and viewers can’t get enough of the animals’ curious expressions.
@mr.titotok Meet prickle the seagull, he comes around to say hi to Tito sometimes (&eat our plants) #friends #beach #cats #sandiego #catsoftiktok
OMG, they’re so close to one another, and both animals are behaving so politely. Many cats would give up one of their nine lives to pounce on a bird on their property, but perhaps that’s why Tito’s dad is holding him so tightly. After all, Tito is just a curious kitten himself at 7 months old, so you never know what he may try to get away with!
“They are both hesitant but willing participants,” one commenter noticed. That describes this situation perfectly!

Both the bold seagull and the Siamese kitty look equally curious and nervous, but they’re both managing their emotions as politely as possible. There’s no hissing, no squawking, and no attempts to get closer. They also aren’t desperate to get away from one another, which tells me all I need to know.
As another commenter pointed out, Tito seems “shocked that birds come in that size.” Prickle is no tiny parakeet!
It makes sense why the cat is so surprised, but just wait until he finds out just how forward seagulls can be. Prickle already enjoys eating the cat parents’ patio plants, but it’s only a matter of time until he feels comfortable enough to start asking for food.
That’s when the real test of friendship begins!
