Whether it’s the way they make biscuits, their unique bark, or their one-of-a-kind relationship with their little sister that makes them stand out, every pet is special in their own way. Even if your furry friend looks exactly like their littermates, you’ll never meet another animal who’s truly identical! They’re just as diverse as people are, but some especially unique pets just can’t help but turn heads.
Senior cat Toby is used to getting strange looks, but this confident kitty couldn’t care less. He lives with a rare medical condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome that can cause a number of bizarre symptoms, including loose and saggy skin. His unique wrinkled appearance always has his fans talking, but on June 29, his mom also offered a sneak peek into a rather unique problem: He can’t drink water without getting his whole face wet!
@tummyandgummy At least he’s washing off the dinner mess 🤷🏼♀️ #EDScatcrew #floppycat #specialneedscat #Ehlersdanlos #rescuecat #catlife #PetsOfTikTok #fyp #cutecat
Wow, what a cool cat! Toby looks more like a cartoon depiction of an old cat than an actual old cat, but I can assure you, he is 100% real.
“That is the most granadad looking cat ever,” one commenter agreed. “I love him.” He really is special!

I was especially excited to come across a video of this wrinkly cat because he and I have something in common. I also have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome! For me, it causes sensitive, thin skin that bruises and breaks easily, as well as hypermobility and joint pain.
However, there are many subtypes of EDS, and no two people (or cats) have the same exact experience. I find it both fascinating and comforting to learn about other’s EDS experiences, but seeing an adorable old cat with the same condition has completely changed my perspective.
Fidning the Right Water Bowl
Toby’s problem with water bowls may be unique, but I’ll happily be the first to admit that it’s adorable too. Even though this unbothered cat doesn’t mind getting wet, his mom would love to find a solution that’s not so messy!
I wonder if a small water fountain that spouts water up into the air would be easier for this special cat to drink out of, but truthfully, this resilient feline seems like he can make do with almost anything.
He’s truly a special cat inside and out!
