It is nothing short of magical to watch animals of two different species play together, especially when it comes to land and sea animals, such as a precious Australian Shepherd and a beautiful dolphin.
What makes watching these incredibly intelligent beings play together so special is how easily they can figure out how to play ball together, even though one of them is on land while the other is in the sea. It’s an absolutely magical spectacle to witness, to say the least.
Well, wasn’t that just absolute cuteness overload! Not only are these two beautiful creatures able to figure out how to play with each other, but it’s the way that they want to play with each other, accommodating each other’s needs, that makes this video so special.
Since both dolphins and dogs are highly social creatures, sharing things, such as toys, is a sign of both affection and deep respect. Interestingly, and adorably, they both play with their giant blue ball the same way, even though one is on land and the other is in the sea.

They each take turns poking the blue ball with their precious noses, almost like they are a couple of human children tossing a baseball back and forth when they play catch.
It also speaks to the social dynamics of each species that they were able to learn the rules of this game. They want to include each other, and that’s just so heartwarming!
It also highlights their intelligence, that they were able to understand the need to play this game by the rules.
However, it is not surprising that this beautiful Australian Shepherd is a fan of complex interspecies games. As this other video shows, she has a very complex greeting ritual that she likes to use when she says hello to one of her dolphin friends.
In this clip, she doesn’t just sniff her dolphin friend to say hello. She sniffs, boops, swipes, and vocalizes with her dolphin friend, almost like she is performing a complex handshake to say hello.
Adorable canine quirk or complex communication? Why not both? One thing is for sure, though, with these two involved, the proceedings will always be as cute as can be!
