Mia is the loneliest girl. The German Shepherd has been so scared since she was surrendered to the Humane Society of Broward County in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It’s so upsetting. The dog has no one to turn to now that she’s been abandoned. Which is why that needs to change. The shelter is now sharing the German Shepherd’s story online with the hopes that the person who is destined to be her human sees it.
Mia was given to Humane Broward after her family decided they couldn’t care for her anymore. It’s tragic! The dog didn’t deserve to be left this way, so now we need to help her get a loving home.
@humanebroward Oh Mia 🥺 She may be big, but she’s just a scared girl here at the shelter! 6-year-old Mia lived with her family her entire life. Sadly, the family could no longer care for her, so Mia was surrendered to our shelter. Now, she is too nervous to leave her bed, unless someone comes in to comfort her. Mia is a very friendly, well-behaved lady that loves attention. She very intelligent and active, and enjoys all people, even young children. She gets nervous during thunderstorms and fireworks, and will hide in the bathroom. We are told she is okay with other dogs, but a dog meet is required if you have a dog at home. Will you please give this gorgeous dog a second chance at love? Please head in to meet Mia today ❤️ If you cannot adopt, please share for her 🙏 To meet Mia, please start by submitting an application online at www.humanebroward.com (link is in bio). We’re open 7 days a week. The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Adoptions open at 11am. We’re sure the German Shepherd was the sweetest girl when she was with her family, but shelter life can be tricky for dogs. It takes a toll on them — it certainly has on 6-year-old Mia, who has gotten so sad since coming to her new home.
“She is too nervous to leave her bed, unless someone comes in to comfort her,” the shelter explained.

But despite her nerves, Mia is still a loving dog. “Mia is a very friendly, well-behaved lady that loves attention. She is very intelligent and active, and enjoys all people, even young children,” they added.
The whole thing is so upsetting. People in the comments section agreed that this sweet girl needs a new home soon.
“I can’t help but tear up, her sweet face breaks my heart,” wrote one person.
“Mia needs that loving forever home, why do some people give up on their dog?” another commenter wondered.
“Come on, Fort Lauderdale… She’s a beautiful girl who just needs some love and a forever home,” begged someone else.
“POOR THING THIS IS HEARTBREAKING. LOOK AT HER SHE’S PRECIOUS. SHE MUST BE SO SAD AND SCARED. PLEASE SAVE HER. SHE DOESN’T DESERVE THIS,” exclaimed another commenter.
The German Shepherd doesn’t deserve this. No dog does. Which is why it’s so important that we get the word out on how to adopt this sweet pup. Head to the Humane Broward website if you’re interested in adoption. We can change everything for Mia. Her next chapter will be her best one.
