More About the Pig Running on the South Carolina Interstate
Channel 7 News WSPA reported on the event, “Troopers in Lexington County had received a call that gave them the chance to save someone’s bacon.” We see what they did there!
“Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol received a call about an animal in the road on Interstate 26, in Chapin. Troopers arrived on scene to find a pig sitting in the median.
After a short chase, Trooper Matthew Bullard managed to safely move the pig off of the road. He said that he grew up on a farm his entire life and grabbing pigs is something he’s used to.
The pig was rescued by a Richland County deputy’s family member, troopers said.”
Many commenters asked why the Trooper grabbed the pig’s leg in that manner, and in an update from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, Trooper First Class Matthew Bullard explained, “I’ve grown up on a farm my whole life. That was the easiest, safest way to grab that pig and just what I’m used to doing at this point.”
Both troopers got a kick out of the situation, with Corporal Clifton Nelson adding, “It’s one of the funniest calls that I’ve ever been on!”
